23 minutes of Birthday Blues

It was my birthday last week. I turned 23.

I really like that number; It's a prime with interesting characteristics, Arecibo message is 23 bits wide, Julius Caesar was stabbed 23 times, Kurt Cobain was born and died in years which reduced to the number 23, the Latin Alphabet was 23 letters, We have 23 sex chromosomes, earth is tilted approximately 23 degrees, Avogadro's constant is in the form of n·e23, the Birthday Paradox states that there's more than 50% chance of two people sharing the same birthday in a set of only 23 people, "The Lord is my shepherd" is the most famous, and the 23rd Psalm, and the Quran was relayed in the span of 23 years.
There's a silly thriller movie I watched when I was younger (by Fernley Phillips and starring Jim Casey) that goes into the notion of the 23 curse, a horror one called Jeepers Creepers from my childhood, too, which tells the story of creepers, creatures that appear every 23 years for 23 days, and another German movie, 23 – Nichts ist so wie es scheint.

"According to William S. Burroughs, he had known a certain Captain Clark, around 1960 in Tangier, who once bragged that he had been sailing 23 years without an accident. That very day, Clark’s ship had an accident that killed him and everybody else aboard. Furthermore, while Burroughs was thinking about this crude example of the irony of the gods that evening, a bulletin on the radio announced the crash of an airliner in Florida, USA. The pilot was another Captain Clark and the flight was Flight 23." — straight out of Wikipedia.

And this is all an example of confirmation bias. But I still like the number anyway.

I wanted to watch those movies I mentioned earlier. Usually my birthdays are uneventful, but for this one I wanted it to be a bit memorable.
I spent the day at grandma's in Z so I did nothing really. Not even the movies. Some friends remembered. Wr wrote me a couple of rap verses, Slh sent me a video of themself, Tk sent me a video they found on twitter and kept for months till it was my birthday, Gll remembered surprisingly. But that's as far as it went.

My family back home made an Oreo cake and sent me pics, it was nice looking. Shame I didn't get to have a bite.

I wanted a sex toy, ownership of chew-du.wang, a RPi, some hardware hacking tool I can't afford, a VPS subscription, lifelong supply of pistachios or cashew, or anything symbolic really.

What I really wanted for my birthday was a hug.
