Series of explosions heard in Kyiv. Several waves of explosions were heard in Kyiv shortly after the air alert sounded at around 5:30 a.m. local time, Kyiv Independent journalists reported on Sept. 2.

Russian troops accelerated their advance toward Pokrovsk over the last week and are likely within 10 kilometers from the edge of the town, the U.K. Defense Ministry said in its daily intelligence report on Sept. 1.

Russia attacks Kharkiv, injuring at least 47, including medics, children. At around 1 p.m. local time, the first explosions were heard in Kharkiv. The Saltivskyi and Nemyshlianskyi districts of the city came under attack, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

Russia strikes Kurakhove in Donetsk Oblast, killing 3, injuring 11. Russia hit a residential area and high-rise buildings in the city center. Apartment buildings, houses, and cars were damaged, according to the police.

Russia’s attack on Sumy injures 13, including 4 children. Russia launched a missile attack on a center for social and psychological rehabilitation of children and an orphanage in Ukraine’s northeastern city of Sumy on Sept. 1.

Military training helicopter crash kills 2. A military training helicopter crash killed both crew members on board, the Ivan Kozhedub National Air Force University in Kharkiv said on Sept. 1.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Aug. 31 during a press conference that Armenia has suspended its participation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) “at all levels,” but that the decision could change.
