Ukraine’s military says it sunk Russian Black Sea Fleet submarine, damaged S-400 missile system in ‘successful hit.’ Ukraine’s military said on Aug. 3 that a Ukrainian missile strike the day before sunk a Russian Black Sea Fleet submarine and damaged a S-400 air defense system in Russian-occupied Crimea.

8 Ukrainian children return home from Russian-occupied parts of Kherson Oblast, governor says. In a statement released on Aug. 3, Kherson Oblast Governor Oleksandr Prokrudin said the eight children who returned home include five girls and three boys, aged between six and 17. The governor thanked the Ukrainian humanitarian NGO Save Ukraine for making the return of the children possible.

Ukraine hit Morozovsk airfield, oil depots in Russia overnight, General Staff confirms. Ukrainian forces attacked the Morozovsk airfield in Russia’s Rostov Oblast, successfully hitting its ammunition depot storing glide bombs, among other weapons, the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces confirmed on Aug. 3.

Ukraine’s boxer Khyzhniak reaches semifinals in Paris, securing Olympic medal. The 29-year-old Ukrainian won by unanimous decision, with a score of 30-26.

Ukrainian gymnast Illia Kovtun finishes fourth in the men’s floor exercise final at Paris Olympics. The 20-year-old gymnast was defeated on Aug. 3 by Carlos Yulo of Philipines (5 points), Artem Dolgopyat of Israel (14.966 points), who was born in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, and Jake German of the United Kingdom (14.933 points), respectively.

Kyiv evacuates first 30 Ukrainians from Lebanon amid escalation in Middle East. On the way to Ukraine, the evacuated Ukrainians, including 21 women and nine children, have already arrived in Rzeszow, Poland, where they were met by Ukrainian consuls and Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR) representatives, the agency said.
